Rental Protection Plan (RPP) Terms & Conditions
Notice
The Rental Protection Plan (“RPP”) is not insurance. It is an optional product that limits your financial responsibility for certain accidental losses or damages to equipment rented from Wasatch Equipment Rental (“Wasatch”).
If you decline RPP, you are fully responsible for the cost of repair, replacement, and loss of use of rented equipment, regardless of cause. If you already have property insurance covering rented equipment, you may provide proof of coverage (Certificate of Insurance) instead of purchasing RPP.
Cost of RPP
- The RPP fee is 10% of the base rental charges (before taxes and fees).
- The RPP must be accepted at the time of rental and paid in full to apply.
What the RPP Covers
If you purchase RPP and meet all conditions listed below, your financial responsibility for loss or damage is limited as follows:
- Accidental Damage: You are only responsible for up to $1,000 per item in the event of accidental physical damage to the rented equipment (excluding negligence or prohibited use).
- Theft: You are only responsible for up to $2,000 per item if the equipment is stolen, provided proper security measures and police reports are in place.
- Fire, Storm, or Other Accidents: You are only responsible for up to $1,000 per item if the equipment is destroyed due to unforeseen accidents (excluding negligence or prohibited use).
The maximum benefit under RPP is limited to the replacement cost of the equipment.
Conditions
The RPP will only apply if:
- You have paid the RPP fee in full (10% of gross rental cost).
- Your rental account is current at the time of the loss or damage.
- You report any loss, theft, or damage to Wasatch within 24 hours of the event.
- You cooperate fully with Wasatch in investigating the event (including providing access to the site, employees, or reports).
- A police report is filed within 24 hours for any theft or vandalism.
Exclusions
The RPP does not cover:
- Negligence – including failure to maintain proper fluids, improper operation, or unsafe transport.
- Intentional misuse, abuse, or reckless operation of the equipment.
- Use by untrained or unauthorized operators.
- Damage during transport, unless the equipment was delivered/transported by Wasatch.
- Theft without proper security (equipment must be stored in a secure area with reasonable theft-prevention measures).
- Failure to report theft/damage within 24 hours or failure to provide required documentation.
- Tires, tracks, and tubes damaged by cuts, punctures, blowouts, or other causes inherent to use.
- Vandalism or malicious mischief.
Recovery of Equipment
If stolen or lost equipment is later recovered, ownership remains with Wasatch, and any payments made under the RPP are non-refundable.
